Mission + Purpose
Rocky Mountain House Rabbit Rescue is dedicated to enhancing the lives of domestic rabbits through rescue, education, and fostering a compassionate community. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we provide the specialized medical care, rehabilitation, and safe haven that vulnerable rabbits across Colorado depend on. Colorado Gives Day is our biggest fundraiser of the year — the moment that determines how many rabbits we can say “yes” to in the year ahead. Cheddar’s Story
This year, one of the rabbits who reminds us why Colorado Gives matters so deeply is Cheddar. Transferred from a shelter partner after a large hoarding impound, Cheddar arrived battling a severe ear abscess requiring weekly surgical cleanings. Just weeks later, he suddenly collapsed, and emergency imaging revealed a twisted, swollen liver lobe — a life-threatening condition requiring immediate surgery. Thanks to compassionate donors, Cheddar survived his emergency procedure and continues to fight through ongoing medical treatment and a future ear amputation. Rabbits like Cheddar deserve safety, comfort, and a chance at healing — and your generosity makes that possible.
