A LIFE REMEMBERED THROUGH COMPASSION.
A LOVE FOR RABBITS THAT CONTINUES.
Erin had a remarkable tenderness for living things. From Chocolate Chip, her first rabbit, to Gingersnap, Rex, and Cinnabon, rabbits became an incredibly meaningful part of her life. She didn’t simply love them—she understood them. To Erin, every rabbit was an individual deserving of patience, enrichment, companionship, safety, and love. Her mom remembers how Erin transformed her bedroom into a playground for Rex, complete with an elaborate tunnel system. Rex slept in her bed and became one of her closest companions. Erin’s love eventually extended to rabbits beyond her own home. She volunteered at her local Humane Society, cared for small animals, and fostered rabbits in need. One of them was Cinnabon, a one-eyed mother rabbit Erin eventually adopted and patiently bonded with Rex. Her mom remembers: “She had an extraordinary ability to recognize vulnerability and respond with patience rather than fear. She wanted every creature to feel safe, loved, and valued.”
Erin was also a deeply creative young woman—an artist, sculptor, pianist, and composer. On September 5, 2019, after a prolonged battle with depression, Erin died by suicide at just 16 years old. Her family has carried the immeasurable grief of losing her, but they have also carried forward something incredibly special: Erin’s love.
“Although we lost Erin far too soon, the love she gave to animals remains one of the most beautiful parts of her legacy.”

Make a Gift in Honor or Memory of Someone You Love
In honor of Erin and her lifelong love of rabbits, a rabbit at RMHRR is being sponsored in her memory—giving another rabbit the safety, care, patience, and love Erin believed every animal deserved. You can continue that legacy by making an In Honor Of or In Memory Of gift to help care for a rescued rabbit at RMHRR. Sometimes the most meaningful way to remember a life is to let the love they gave keep going.
