Who is Rocky Mountain House Rabbit Rescue?

We are an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming abandoned domestic rabbits throughout the beautiful state of Colorado.

Our team is made up of passionate, experienced volunteers — with centuries of combined rabbit care knowledge. (And yes, we think they’re absolutely bun-derful!) Their tireless dedication, along with the incredible support of our donors, is what makes everything we do possible.

What We Do

Rescue & Rehome: We save abandoned and neglected rabbits, provide them with necessary medical care, and work to find them loving, permanent fur-ever homes.

Educate & Advocate: We share expert knowledge about rabbit care through articles, classes, events, and phone consultations — helping people become better rabbit companions and advocates.

Whether you're looking to adopt, learn, volunteer, or support, we welcome you to be part of our bunny-loving community.

RMHRR's Mission Statement

RMHRR is dedicated to enhancing the lives of domestic rabbits through rescue, education, and fostering a compassionate community.

OUR PHILOSPOHY: EVERY RABBIT MATTERS

At the heart of our mission is a deep respect for all rabbits — regardless of breed, temperament, health, or their history with humans. Each rabbit is a unique individual, and their well-being is our top priority.

Rabbits Are Intelligent, Social Beings

Rabbits thrive on interaction, mental stimulation, and companionship — whether from humans, other rabbits, or even other animals. They need exercise, toys, enriching environments, and social engagement to lead full, happy lives.

Domestic Rabbits

Unlike their wild cousins, domestic rabbits are a product of selective breeding and rely on humans for survival and care. This makes their welfare not just a concern — but a responsibility.

We believe domestic rabbits deserve:

  • Spaying or neutering to promote health and prevent overpopulation

  • Safe, indoor living spaces where they are protected and supervised

  • Access to veterinary care when they are sick or injured

  • The same respect, love, and care commonly given to cats and dogs

wild Rabbits

In most cases, wild rabbits are best left undisturbed. Except in rare situations involving rehabilitation or medical care, minimal human intervention is in their best interest.

We’re committed to ensuring every rabbit receives the love, respect, and protection they deserve — because every bunny matters.
